Tour description
This is our suggestion for a multi-days program from the Copenhagen/Malmö area and up through Blekinge and Kalmar. We call it “South Sweden Explorer”. Look at it as a “pick & chose” list of cities and sites to visit depending on your clients’ interests and time. During this tour, your guests will get a chance to explore some amazing highlights of the area, all hand-picked by us.
We would be more than happy to help you put together a more detailed program, including accommodation and food/drink. Hit the “Contact”-button and let´s do some business!
7 days/6 nights roundtrip in the south of Sweden
Day 1
Arriving with ferry to Trelleborg, Ystad, Malmö…
The arrival time (morning or evening) will decide the order of the next activities but let´s say that the guests arrive in the morning in this case. Then they have time to explore Malmö or other parts of the region of Skåne. If you want help with suggestions for activities and hotels here, please let us know.
Arriving in Blekinge.
Day 2 & 3
Next stop is the city of Karlshamn and a 2-nights stay in the wonderful world of Eriksberg Wildlife Reserve. This lovely place, which we call the “Narnia of Blekinge” is a true gem for the whole family. The safari park awaits you and you can choose from a number of different ways to discover the park’s many fascinating animals; hiking, biking or riding a safari jeep. You are guaranteed to see animals in their right habitat. Add an exclusive overnight stay in the middle of the wildlife sanctuary.
Day 4
Make sure to take an outing to Mörrums Kronolaxfiske; a beautiful river famous for its salmon fishing. Here, you can stand on the bridges trying to spot the fish or make a wonderful hike along the riverside. Enjoy lunch at the “Salmon House”.
Make a small detour from the highway and find the small and charming place Järnavik. From here you can hop on the archipelago boat out to the island of Tjärö (possible to stay overnight in charming red cottages), a paradise for families and a “Bullerbyn” on an island.
Day 5 & 6
In the morning you travel east toward Karlskrona, a UNESCO World Heritage city.
Suggestions for attractions and activities depending on interest and time:
On your way to Karlskrona, make a stop for a Swedish Fika at Café Mandeltårtan in the city of Ronneby. Then visit the multitalented artist Susanne Demåne in her fascinating and beautiful garden where she displays all her art in “The World of Demåne”.
Almost there, but first we recommend a visit to the island of Hasslö and the lovely beach Sandviken (15 min from the highway) with a fabulous view of the horizon. Suitable for small children. Stop to marvel at the viking graves of Hjortahammar on the scenic drive out to the island (8 min from the highway).
Welcome to the city of Karlskrona. Here you´ll be staying at the cosy Brewery Hotel (2 nights). For best rates, book through GO Nordic! A massive amount of attractions and activities can be found in Karlskrona. The city is built on 33 islands and the city center is situated on its own island, 6 km out into the archipelago. Built in 1680 to protect Sweden from Denmark, it´s packed with historical buildings and fortifications. It is really all about interests and time to spend. Some examples of “must see & must do” below:
– archipelago boat tour (1-4 hours)
– rent a bike and explore 4 islands in a couple of hours. Book GO Nordics tour here!
– visit the famous allotment cottages at Brändaholm, 15 minutes walk from the city center.
– Drottningskär Citadel, a free ferry takes you out to the magnificent fortification in 30 minutes, and you can enjoy the archipelago underway.
– The Swedish Naval Museum is the most visited attraction in south Sweden and well worth a visit for the whole family. Book your group discount through GO Nordic!
– Dragsö Camping is a nice place to stay a day with the family, having a small beach, miniature golf with copies of buildings in the World Heritage, a playground and rental of kayaks, canoes, paddle boats and bikes.
Day 7
It´s time to say good-bye to Karlskrona and begin the drive to Kalmar (1:10).
On the way, we recommend a stop in the charming town of Kristianopel. Walk the narrow streets and have an ice cream in the small harbor.
In Kalmar, we suggest a visit to the following attractions:
– Kalmar Castle, a magnificent building and the best-preserved castles of its time. Lots of activities for the whole family.
– Krusenstiernska Gardens, with a small museum and a lovely garden where you can enjoy homemade Swedish delights as lunch or Swedish fika.
– a stroll in the streets behind the city wall is a must (you can even climb the wall at some points to enjoy the view of the sea).
Time to head back to the ferry (3:45)
If time allows
Kalmar is the gateway to the island of Öland and connected by a very long bridge.
The drive (0:20) from the city center offers fantastic views of the Kalmar sound.
Depending again on interests and time, the island is packed with sights and activities for the whole family, typically in the summer peak season. It´s otherwise quite slow.
Don´t miss in the north:
– Borgholm Castle, a middle age fortification that is impressive in its size and preserved state.
– Solliden Castle, summer home for the Swedish Royal family
If you chose to stay on the island for a night or two, don’t miss to travel further north to visit Byrums Raukar, stone formations by the sea that looks like nothing else you have seen!
Don´t miss in the south:
– Långe Jan pilot station and bird sanctuary
