Castles & Kings

This is our suggestion for a multi-days program in southeast Sweden. We call it “Castles & Kings”. During this visit to, you will get a chance to explore no lessa than three amazing castles and learn about the Kings (and Queens) that ruled the Baltic.

Here´s a small teaser:

Guided tour of Kalmar Castle. The history of the legendary castle stretches back 800 years. For a long time, it was one of Sweden’s most important fortifications. After the tour, explore & enjoy the surrounding walls that overlook the Baltic sea or visit the castle shop.

Transfer to city center

Walk on your own in the picturesque city, where you can enjoy the impressive Kalmar Cathedral, the charming old workers quarters and the many green areas. Want to learn more: book our City Tour of Kalmar!

Overnight stay

Transfer to the island of Öland. Visit both the historical and impressive Borgholm Castle and the summer residence of the Swedish Royal Family, Solliden Castle. If time allows for another overnight stay, there are plenty of great accommodation that we would be happy to help with. We also have a ton of recommendations for further activities and lovely food & drink on the island of sun & winds!

Transfer to Kristianopel. Short introduction to this historical town (below picture). Enjoy the narrow streets and cosy coastal atmosphere on your own.

Transfer to Karlskrona. Explore on your own or book one of our tours “6 islands in 2 hours” or “Slow walking tour with Swedish fika”. Choose another overnight stay in one of our partner hotel, or continue further west after exploring the city built on water.
