While the pie bakes, a private guide leads you through the preserved 18th- and 19th-century wooden buildings and the lush walled garden. You hear the stories of the merchant families who lived here: their trades, their crafts, and the everyday rhythms of old Kalmar.

Then the Swedish way: you sit down together in the garden and eat the pie you baked, with coffee or tea. No rushing. No crowds. Just a rare, still moment in the middle of a port day.

Swedish pie (pajkaka or paj) is a cornerstone of Swedish home cooking; rustic, seasonal, and deeply personal. It is not a dessert.
